Hey everyone, I’ve been having some issues with my Corolla’s adaptive cruise control lately, and it’s starting to drive me nuts. It used to work perfectly, but now it randomly cuts out or doesn’t maintain the proper distance from the car in front, which defeats the whole purpose! Sometimes it just turns off by itself, and other times it’ll slow down too much even when there's plenty of room. I’ve also noticed that it struggles a bit more when I’m driving in heavy rain or when there's fog, but not sure if that’s related or just bad luck.
Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve tried cleaning the sensors, thinking maybe they were dirty or blocked, but it didn’t seem to help much. I’ve also heard that sometimes a simple system reset might fix it, but I haven’t tried that yet. Do I need to disconnect the battery, or is there some sort of hidden reset button I’m missing?
I'm debating if it's time to take it to the dealership, but I really don’t want to get hit with a huge bill if it's something simple. Anyone have experience fixing this themselves, or am I better off leaving it to the pros? It’s especially annoying when it cuts out on the highway and I have to manually adjust the speed. Thanks in advance for any tips!
