Hey guys, I’m thinking about buying a newer Toyota Corolla, but I’ve been hearing some not-so-great things about the CVT (continuously variable transmission). I’m really interested in the fuel efficiency and smooth ride, but the last thing I want is to end up with a headache down the road.
I’ve read a few horror stories online about the CVT slipping or even overheating, but I’m wondering how common these issues really are. Is this something a lot of you have experienced firsthand? How serious are these problems, and do they show up early on or after a few years of driving? I’ve also seen some mentions of the transmission 'jerking' or acting weird under acceleration—does this happen often, or is it more of a rare thing?
Also, how expensive are the repairs if the CVT starts acting up? I’m trying to decide if this is something I should be worried about before making the purchase, so any advice from current Corolla owners with a CVT would be super helpful!
