Title: What could be causing a grinding noise while accelerating in my Toyota Corolla?
Threaded Mode
#1
I’ve been hearing this weird grinding noise lately whenever I accelerate in my 2012 Corolla, especially when I’m going uphill or putting more pressure on the gas. It’s not super loud, but it’s definitely noticeable, and I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. It doesn’t sound like anything is falling apart (yet), but I’m worried it could get worse over time.

At first, I thought it might be the brakes, but the noise only happens when I accelerate, not when I brake. Could it be something with the transmission? Or maybe the wheel bearings? I’ve heard that grinding noises can also come from issues with the exhaust or even the driveshaft. Has anyone else dealt with this on their Corolla? Any ideas on what I should check before I take it to the shop and potentially get hit with a big repair bill?
